(11th September 2024 – 15½ miles) We had last been in Skipton two years previously. Back then, Jim and I were hiking the Dales High Way – a smashing long distance footpath which I have yet to write up and post to The Walking Gardener. Sorry. But hey. Enough self flagellation. On this our second […]

100 miles on foot through Yorkshire and Cumbria In 1643, the 60 year old Lady Anne Clifford inherited the lands which should have been hers at the death of her father 38 years earlier – but instead were grabbed by her uncle. But even 38 years late, her inheritance was one worth waiting for. As […]

(Walked on 14th March 2017 – 15.5 Miles) I awoke to a grey sullen dawn, in a grey sullen mood. OK, OK, I admit it. I wasn’t having fun. This was not the best walk of my life. After only four or five hours sleep, I was tired and I was despondent. And sullen. My […]

My life has been filled with strange plants and good gardening and I’m with ya. Where does all the time go, here I’am at 10:00pm contemplating some plant writing, but exhausted dead on my feet. Take the time you need to do what you do, we’ll listen in when you have the moments to share.

Well, I’m reassured to hear that from you, Nat – what with your prodigous output. Slowly gearing myself back up to the task. With you soon. D

I’m not a sucker for auriculas, really, they seem so fussy to me, but they’re lovely… those blossoms covered with flour and so ready to go in a deep frying pan… poetical.
Have a nice holiday.

Isn’t is always that the more you do, the less time there is to write about it. Lovely auriculas, though. Hasn’t Mantovani had his day, or do I shop in the wrong supermarkets. Not sure what the modern equivalent is.

Hehe, I’m not even sure I know any Mantovani, Karin – just a name that popped into my head in a musak-y kind of way. True about how busy I am at the moment and yet can’t seem to get stuff tapped out on to my PC. Soon though. D
