Here’s a March book giveaway.
And it’s a good one. Great Garden Design by Ian Hodgson is published this month by Frances Lincoln. I’ll let them tell you about it:
“Great Garden Design showcases more than 300 of the best garden designs of the last 10 years from 50 top designers and members of the Society of Garden Designers (SGD). Author Ian Hodgson’s ground-breaking survey of contemporary garden design provides ideas and inspiration to help you create the garden you’ve always wanted. Planting schemes, style guidance, practical insight and expert knowledge will generate new ideas for every situation, every area, all tastes, budgets and sizes of garden. By examining the best work of such talents as Tom Stuart-Smith, Luciano Guibbilei, Dan Pearson, Andy Sturgeon and Charlotte Rowe – as well as lesser-known designers whose work deserves wider recognition – you can use this book to discover:
• cutting edge design and detail
• designs for wildlife, natural planting, recycling, land art and sustainability
• how the creative process works from concept to completion
• a directory of professional designers whose ideas you can imitate.
Ian Hodgson is a qualified landscape architect and the former editor of The Garden (published by the Royal Horticultural Society) with over 25 years’ experience as a writer and editor for the horticultural press. He trained at Kew, and is now Editor-at-Large for Garden News and Garden Answers magazines.”
Interesting? The book retails for £25 but you might win a copy by:
saying that you wish to enter in the “Any Thoughts?” box below
and
(if you don’t do so already) follow ‘The Anxious Gardener’ blog; follow me on Twitter or like The Anxious Gardener Facebook page. Or all three! The relevant follow buttons are top right of this page.
and
erm, that’s it.
(You can also enter the book draw by simply following me on Twitter and re-tweeting this post; or by leaving a comment under the Facebook post announcing this competition and liking the page).
Please note that the prize can only be posted to a UK postal address.
The competition will close at midnight on Saturday 21st March 2015.
I’ll draw a name from my hat, contact the winner and add the result to the bottom of this post.
Good luck!

Not that you’d be open to emotional bribery in any form what-so-ever, David, but could I mention that it’s my birthday shortly after the draw ends? *cough* And I would SO love this book… hahaha 🙂 Caro x

I live in the US but will be in England for a month this summer. If I win, may I pick it up from you?

Hi James, I initially thought, “yes, why not?” to your request. But I’ve thought about it and hope you’ll understand if I say no. Sorry, nothing personal but I think it’s possibly unfair not to have offered that option in the above text for anyone else in a similar position. But it isn’t a service I particularly want to offer for this and future competitions. Neither is it a precedent I want to set. Should you win, I will, of course, arrange for the prize to be sent to the address of a friend, family member or hotel, B&B etc if that is of any good to you? Please let me know if you’d like to enter. Sorry again and if we can arrange a meet up somewhere in the summer that would be great. Dave.
